It is the largest collection of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Included in the more than 15,000 items are books, periodicals, CD-ROM's, census microfilm, newspaper microfilm (1799-date), vertical files, family files, maps, some manuscript material, and specialized indexes to local records. Bethlehem Area Public Library

"The Bethlehem Room collection concentrates on historical and genealogical materials from the library's direct service area: the City of Bethlehem, Bethlehem Township, Hanover Township, Fountain Hill, and Lower Saucon. While other geographical areas are covered, it is not as extensive. Materials include local histories, maps, a newspaper clipping file, church records, and cemetery records. Family histories are also included. Microfilm holdings include the Bethlehem newspaper from 1867 and census returns for Lehigh County and Northampton County from 1790 through 1920. A partial index to the Bethlehem Globe-Times newspaper is available via our web page. The Bethlehem Room and microfilm collections are available during regular library hours."
